Education bursary

1000 Islands Master Gardeners Education Bursary

The 1000 Islands Master Gardeners (TIMG) offers a confidential Education Bursary to help remove financial barriers for individuals pursuing Master Gardener certification. The bursary supports one Master Gardener-in-Training (MGiT) at a time and is awarded based on demonstrated financial need. Financial need is generally defined as household income below the City of Kingston median, with flexibility for individual circumstances. What the bursary covers

  • Up to $500 per required university course (maximum one course per year)
  • Available for up to three years while completing the program
  • Paid directly to the recipient upon proof of course registration

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be accepted as a Master Gardener-in-Training with TIMG
  • Be an active volunteer with the organization
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress

How it works

  • Applications are reviewed confidentially by a committee of TIMG leadership
  • Preference is given to applicants facing the greatest financial barriers
  • Funding is contingent on continued need and successful course completion
